Setting: Beau and J. are sitting in a booth at a favorite local restaurant that features 30 kinds of buffalo wings.
J: So, I've been having a lot of trouble with my stomach lately...
Beau: *staring intently at J's face*
J: And I've been trying to figure out what's going on, because it's really causing me a lot of pain...
Beau: *starts to slowly lean toward the right, still intently starting at J's face*

J: And you know, I don't want to take those stupid stomach pills because of how they make me... *watches Beau continue leaning to the right while now lowering his head and peering up at her* ...Uh, what are you doing?
Beau: Huh?
J: What are you staring at?
Beau: Your nose. *indicates nostrils*
J: *self-consciously touches her nostrils and feels nothing* What? No hairs are sticking out.
Beau: No, not really sticking out...
J: What? Do I have a big booger? I'm trying to talk about my stomach here...
Beau: No, the hairs...um...you ever seen a starfish? When yo
u turn it over, you ever seen its mouth?J: Are you saying my nostril hairs look like a starfish's mouth?
Beau: Yes. Just like how its mouth has these interconnecting, you know... like the hairs in your nose. *interlaces his fingers for a more dramatic effect*
J: Argh!

Wow, seriously... that could be a conversation between me and Paul. Sometimes I find you guys eerily similar to us guys.
And, by the by, my in-her-40's sister has just been told that she has ADD but she knows very little about it and thought it was mostly something that kids have. Any advice for someone who's just been told that that is their diagnosis?
That Beau, he's quite the catch.
Sometimes he's a catch. Sometimes...
As for ADD as an adult, I think it's much easier to live with than when you're in school and forced to pay attention/sit still, but it helps explain some things away. Why you may have trouble remembering things, completing tasks, focusing, or staying on one topic when speaking, etc. Sometimes it breaks my heart a little bit that I can't remember special memories that others can.
On the positive side, it's great for things like multi-tasking and high-active/high-stress situations. And although things like meetings are scary for me (I start to feel like a clock winding down), I feel energized when I have a LOT of work to do with deadlines and such (as long as it's not ridiculous), because I can get a lot done in a short amount of time. Just have to remember to pay attention to detail so I don't overlook something! (Something I've never had much patience for).
Thanks for the info...I'll be sure to stop chastising my sister for not remembering an ENTIRE VACATION WE TOOK TOGETHER.
Yeah, I always noticed that thing about your nose hairs, but I never got around to saying anything.
Just kidding, by the way.
Ha! Or I mean, BAH! - see Alice.
It's almost like one of those "Love is..." cartoons.
I said almost ! ;D
I don't know those cartoons...you'll have to introduce me to them.
